Requirements To Register With NROC Singapore
Before diving into public pools as a swimming instructor, you need to register with the NROC. The NROC was established in 2003 to raise the standard of sports coaching in Singapore.
It aims to produce qualified national coaches driven to maintain the quality and integrity of various sports through continuous learning and skills development.
As an NROC swim coach, you’re eligible to teach in condominium pools, pool clubs, and public pools. Here are the prerequisites for joining the NROC:
Proficient in at least four (4) swimming strokes: Freestyle Breaststroke Backstroke Butterfly
Completed the following courses/accreditation: Lifesaving 123 Basic Sports Science (BSS) SG-Coach Level 1 Theory SG-Coach Technical Level 1
Must know how to conduct First Aid or CPR
Optional: Bronze Medallion
- At least 18 years of age (As of 1 Jan of that year)
- Proficient in at least four (4) swimming strokes: Freestyle
- Breaststroke
- Backstroke
